I began writing this blog soon after my Mother, my Angel, passed away in Feb 2010. I miss her very much. She was my best friend and we talked a lot. Most of all, I miss that first cup of coffee I shared with her in the morning, sometimes in the balcony as we enjoyed the first rays of the sun lighting up the horizon, watching the pigeons fluttering around, looking busy. Soon, the crows would swoop down and claim their spot, driving the pigeons away.
As we sipped our strong filter coffee, saving the taste, we would plan the day’s activities, the day’s menus, reminisce, laugh and sometimes cry. For no reason, we would suddenly whisper to each other.
My Mother taught me many things. But most of all, she taught me to be compassionate, kind, tolerant and always smile. While I am guilty of not always following her code, I admit that over the years, I’ve understood her more and more, loving what I knew. In spite of struggling through life, she always had a bright smile for everyone, convincing them that yes, things would be okay.
