I just finished my coffee and it is pleasantly sloshing around inside, exactly where it should be. Yesterday was a bit of a worry-filled day with Vitlibee developing a tummy ache. Even when I dropped him at school he didn’t look his usual self. But it was a half day – being the last day of the year. Well, he had a niggling tummy ache – and I strongly suspect the heat wreaking its havoc. Somehow he managed to go to music class also in the evening and I convinced him to have an elani on the way back. He had only bread and butter for dinner – and didn’t sleep too well at night. Seems better this morning. Inshallah!
Mi!! Can you imagine? Yesterday was last day in the 7th std! Phew! That IS a milestone, isn’t it? I – as usual – felt quite emotional because soon I would be seeing him walking into school in full pants. By the way – he says he will stop wearing shorts! Hey – what do I do with all the smart new shorts I bought him? Looks like I have some convincing to do ๐ I was thinking, if you were here – what fun we would have during the holidays. My God. Just thinking of the holidays stretching out WITHOUT you seems awfully strange.
Incidentally – I saw Sowmya rushing out with Siddesh’s report card yesterday at school – and when I asked her what’s up – she said she needed it to enrol him in special coaching classes. He’s going to the 9th – and she’s already worried because of the huge syllabus. She claims they don’t cover all the ‘difficult’ lessons! So – she is seeking admission for special coaching at some place in Basavangudi – apparently they have centers in our area. Damn! She’s particular about Math and Science. ๐ Looks like I gotta polish my rusty knowledge – what say? More fun than packing Vulbix off to some coaching class. As it is these kids barely seem to have any real life – trudging to and from school and slogging over homework – and complaining about the lack of time for hobbies. Let’s wait and see. Nice vambu, no?
By the way – I did get around to recording Bulbulo and Diya Jala kar by Vidur. ๐ but he’s made me promise not to post it online. So that’s about it! Just let’s wait for him to be famous eh? He he.
Suddenly remembered – a few days ago – they aired ‘The Silence of the lambs’ at night. I was a little scared to see it. I recalled how I had seen it back in ’92 – when we stayed in Koramangala – it was raining outside – and I watched TSOTL and Cape Fear back to back. Superbย they both were. And you made ‘adai’s for me. I was terribly hungry and to cut down the waiting time, you made kutti kutti patties type adai ๐ and I ate it with dollops of butter. Yummy!!. I ought to make adai one of these days. How else to get Vidur to get his proteins and what not? A friend was asking what kind of tambrahm are we raising when I told her he doesn’t touch sambar :-D. So comic no? Here I can only admire your attitude – so long as he’s getting every nutrient in some form what does it matter?
Sury and I have made a pact not to get mad at him during the next few days – exam time and instead, only be sweet. I gave him your lecture yesterday – about being kind and patient. Actually Sury is extremely sweet – but that little temper does show up when our baba provokes him. You know Vidur ๐ and you know Sury. Well met. Right now the two of them are sitting together – with Sury studying with him. How we wished you were here – tomorrow is Social Studies and you would have enjoyed going over the books with him! Sigh.
Ultimately – that silly Nandini is not supplying butter. So much against our ‘principles’ I got a small packet of their ghee to check it out. And I also bought a pack of Orkay’s Puliogare mix. Can’t say I am impressed. Next week – I plan to roast and grind till I drop ๐ Devi recipes are the best. No doubt about that.
Here’s a pic for you today: Somehow I find all pix of you and Vidur so soothing. You are teaching him to clap? Or what? Both look mightly pleased. What a nice pic no? Aren’t you glad you had a nice photographer? Wink wink!
Imagine if we could turn the clock back!
