Hard Habit To Break
I woke up early, got the coffee going, brushed my teeth, lit the lamp, offered milk as ‘neivedyam’, grinned at your picture, washed the vessels, got the washing machine going – and then heard your voice whisper in my ear ‘kaapi kudi di kannu’. And as usual, I just stood around thinking of what else I could do before the others woke up. I also heard you say – make coffee for yourself and get some work done when it is so quiet ya. Sigh. Habits are very hard to break.
I wandered into the bedroom. Vidur opened his eyes and called me. I cuddled up with him and he started saying he had bad dreams. I kunjali-kunjood him and when my bladder would hold out no longer, got up. Naturally, 5 minutes later he was up as well. I am having coffee now. Just the way we loved it.
